R&F Pigment Sticks Demonstration Materials Workshop | Thursday May 30th, 2024 | One Day 1.5-Hour Workshop | 1:00pm-2:30pm | for $10.00 + Tax 

A Pigment Stick® demonstration offers a relaxed environment where participants can see and experience Pigment Sticks®.

Topics covered include: how R&F Pigment Sticks® allow artists to explore traditional and alternative methods of painting with oil by allowing them draw or paint directly onto a surface with immediacy and fluidity; what Pigment Sticks® are (pigment and linseed oil); health and safety when working with Pigment Sticks® (including proper disposal of oil soaked rags and paper towels); appropriate supports and tools; transparent vs. opaque Pigment Sticks®; building a surface, monoprinting, image transfer, and mark making; and additional techniques (the use of cold wax, Gelli plates, etc.).

This is a FREE workshop, participants will receive a $10.00 Artisan Santa Fe Voucher at the end of the workshop for 5/30/24 only.

We have great resources for tools, a really cool blog called Unique Color, and a YouTube channel where artists can watch demo videos on everything from how to clean a brush using soy wax to techniques such as accretion, inlay, image transfer, working with encaustic and ink, using stencils, and how to do a pour.

Artist Statement:

Shelley Jean is an artist/educator that studied at the Florida School of The Arts. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S. in Art Education and has taught in the public and private sector for over 30 years. She currently teaches at the Beach Art Center, Island Art Association as well as her own Secret Place Studio in Orlando, Florida. She offers in person workshops, private mentoring as well as online workshops. She hosts Encaustic Art for The Soul Retreats nationally and internationally in Asheville, North Carolina, New Mexico’s Ghost Ranch, Hawthorne, Florida and Tuscany Italy. She is the founder and President of Florida Wax, a Chapter of International Encaustic Artists and an Artist Instructor for R&F Paints.
