In the Eyes of a Master | All Day Workshop | Saturday March 25th, 2023 | 10:00am-4:00pm | $75 + tax | (one hour break included from 12:30pm-1:30pm)

Step into the Golden Period of a master painter. Learn how to paint THE KISS by Gustav Klimt using pearlescent watercolors. Artists Wendy Ahlm and Stephanie West will guide you into owning your own Art Nouveau work of art.
As an added bonus, attendees will get to test out and learn the basics of using gouache paint. Attendees will get to play with both Design and Acrylic-Gouache and learn what makes each product special. Gouache by Holbein, Winsor & Newton, and M.Graham. 
Materials to bring:
  • Stonehenge Black Cotton Hot Press Watercolor Paper, 140lb pad (pad must be taped to a hard surface.) Any size. 
  • Pearlescent Colours by Fine Tec: Silver and Gold (preferably Crystal Gold). Blue Silver and Deep Black are optional.
  • 2B Pencil
  • Thin line black waterproof Sharpie
  • Gum Eraser
  • 4 Round Brushes, small to large: 1 or 2, 4 or 6, 8 or 10, and a 16
  • A ruler
  • Paper towels
  • One quarter, one nickel, and 3 dimes
  • Optional: Fineline Masking Fluid Pen – Fine Tip Masking Fluid 
Professional Watercolors will be provided by the instructors for use during the workshop. Students need to purchase Fine Tec Pearlescent Watercolors
Students are invited to bring their own watercolors, preferably professional-grade paint. Colors that will be helpful for this painting are: Yellow, Ochre, Gold Ochre (optional), Orange, Red, Pink, Purple, Ultramarine Blue, Grass Green, Cobalt Green, Burnt Siena, Burnt Umber, Black. (Brands like: Winsor & Newton, Sennelier, Schmincke, and Daniel Smith)

If you have your own materials substitutions are welcome. Be aware that the supplies listed above are strongly recommended by Instructors in order to be successful in this all day workshop.

Artist Bios:

Stephanie West and Wendy Ahlm belong to the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. Both are in leadership roles in the non-profit group to connect and help people who are passionate about painting and being in nature. They each paint in watercolor, pastel, and oils and are experienced teachers.
