One Day Intermediate Watercolor Painting Workshop with Stephanie West & Wendy Ahlm | Saturday March 22nd, 2025 | 12:00pm-4:00pm | for $85.00 + Tax |

Know a little about watercolor and want to expand your skills and practice? Explore watercolors in this intermediate watercolor class. Dive into color temperature, winning color combinations through limited palettes, and water control. Find when to loosen up and let watercolors work for you and where to zero in on details. You’ll build confidence with skills you can practice and play with.

Materials (Bring to Class):

• Your pencil of choice: Recommend 2H, F, HB or 2B
• Eraser (your preference re: type. – Stephanie uses a Gum eraser, Wendy likes the Tombow Mono erasers)
• One 1/4” Flat watercolor brush 
• One Round size #6, #8 or #10 watercolor brush
• One Flat watercolor brush – 1/2” or 3/4”
• A spray bottle for spritzing water (We highly recommend a fine mist bottle)
• Paper towels and small pack of facial tissue
• Fineline Masking Fluid Pen – FINE TIP Applicator & masking fluid
• Rubber Cement Pickup Square

Options to bring (but not mandatory):

• Please feel free to bring your favorite watercolor paints and brushes.
• Your favorite palette, white plate or butcher tray to mix paint on.
• Your favorite watercolor paper or block. Our favorite paper is Arches 140lb.
• A favorite photo that you’d like to paint

Provided by the instructors for in-class use:

• Professional grade Sennelier watercolors on a small palette you can keep. 
• Watercolor Paper
• Scissors
• White art masking tape
• Paper Plates (for palettes)
• Handouts, including images for practice

Artist Bios:

Wendy Ahlm and Stephanie West belong to the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. Both have held leadership roles in the non-profit and like helping people who are passionate about painting. They each paint in watercolor, pastel, and oils and are experienced teachers.
