How to Paint Sunflowers in Watercolor Single Day Workshop Friday October 14th, 2022 | 1:00PM to 4:00PM | $55 + tax |

Learn how to paint realistic sunflowers. Understand how to apply the brightest brights and darkest darks. How to layer, blend, and work wet-on-wet.

Bring Your Own Materials:

2 pieces of 140 lb watercolor 9 x 12″ (minimum)

2 – 3 watercolor brushes – one small, thin point, one medium, one large for a wash.
(Note: You can actually paint this piece with just one brush: a Princeton velvet size 8 long round
A wash brush is pretty handy also.)

Set of Watercolors similar to:

    1. Lemon Yellow or Aureolin (a cool lemon yellow)
    2. Cadmium Yellow (a warm yellow)
    3. Cadmium Orange (or other orange)
    4. Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre
    5. Cadmium Scarlett or Scarlet Lake or Cadmium Red Light
    6. Cobalt Blue
    7. Indanthrene Blue or French Ultramarine
    8. Permanent or Quinacridone Magenta (Alizarin Crimson would work too)
    9. Burnt Umber (Burnt Sienna would work)
    10. Sepia (you could also mix Indigo Blue or a dark Blue with Burnt Sienna or Umber)

Optional: Fineline Masking fluid and Matte Finish spray by Krylon

Artist Bios:

Stephanie West and Wendy Ahlm belong to the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. Both are in leadership roles in the non-profit group to connect and help people who are passionate about painting and being in nature. They each paint in watercolor, pastel, and oils and are experienced teachers.
