From Collage to Dimensional Collage Workshop in Acrylic | Friday February 16th, 2024 | 9:30am-3:30pm | One Day 5-Hour Workshop: One hour break included 11:30am-12:30pm | for $140.00 + Tax |
Take your collages to a new level by learning about glues and other adhesive products, what to use and how to add different kinds of dimensional objects. Discover how to make easy molds and do casting with paints, gels, etc. We will also be making and using paint skins.
We will start with making a collage papers and creating your collage story. After lunch add a cut little metal leaf before we move on to learning about dimensional objects, and how to attach them to the collage you created earlier.
Students will be supplied with a pdf tutorial prior to the class.

Artist Statement:
The richly textured mixed media paintings of Darlene Olivia McElroy reflect the vision of an artist whose involvement with man’s primal origins, sins, and religious conflicts has developed an imagery at once sensuously primitive and startlingly sophisticated.
Weaving through textural surfaces, found objects, and rich symbolism, the viewer is drawn into a visual world where color plays the role of an atmospheric veil encompassing the personal myths of the artist.
McElroy, born and raised in Southern California, is descended from an old New Mexico family of artists and storytellers. She has been deeply influenced by the summers she spent growing up on her family’s ranch in Santa Fe where the rich tapestry of Hispanic life filled the nights and brightly colored the days.
Her paternal grandfather was an artist on Catalina Island who exposed her to art as a lifestyle, introduced her to color and the narrative in art. She currently lives in Santa Fe where she enjoys the skies, the color and the art.
